AlifBay Matrimony is a privacy-first, family-involved Islamic matrimony application designed to facilitate compatible and secure marriages in accordance with Islamic values. Our platform is strictly photo-free to ensure maximum modesty and privacy.
1. Information We Collect
A. Personal Information You Provide
To register and use our platform, you provide us with certain personal details:
- Authentication Data: We use Google Sign-In (Firebase Authentication) to verify your identity. This provides us with your Google account email, name, and profile identifier.
- Profile Details: During onboarding, you provide your display name/initials, age, location (city and country), education, and profession.
- Islamic Compatibility Answers: We collect answers to our 9-category compatibility questionnaire covering topics like Deen & Practice, Family Values, Financials & Career, Lifestyle, and Long-term Vision.
- Wali / Guardian Information: If you invite a Wali (guardian) or family members to oversee your matches, we collect their name, role, and the invitation codes linking their accounts to yours.
B. Device and Usage Data
- Push Notification Tokens: We collect device registration tokens via Firebase Messaging (FCM) to deliver notifications regarding match approvals, guardian activities, and system updates.
- Log Data: Standard analytical logs (crash reports, app performance metrics) may be collected to help diagnose issues and improve user experience.
C. Information We Do NOT Collect
- Photos/Videos: AlifBay Matrimony is a strictly photo-free platform. We do not support or allow uploading, browsing, or sharing of personal photos or videos of seekers.
- Precise Geolocation: We do not track your real-time GPS location. We only collect the static city/country you manually enter.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Authenticate your account and maintain secure login sessions.
- Calculate compatibility matching percentages based on questionnaire alignment.
- Facilitate family/Wali involvement by sharing designated compatibility logs and match profiles under your privacy controls.
- Send system alerts, security warnings, and matching updates via push notifications.
- Improve application design, fix bugs, and enhance user experience.
3. How Your Information is Shared
- With Potential Matches: Other users (seekers) can see your initials, age, location, education, profession, compatibility scores, and value alignments. You can control the visibility of each of these fields in the Privacy Center inside the app.
- With Your Wali/Family Members: If you invite family members, they can view match profiles, compatibility scores, and shared approval threads as authorized by your Privacy Center settings.
- With Firebase (Service Provider): Our backend runs on Google Firebase (Auth, Firestore, Cloud Messaging). Your data is securely stored on Google's cloud infrastructure. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
4. Data Security and Retention
- Encryption: All data transmitted between the app and our database is encrypted in transit using industry-standard Transport Layer Security (TLS).
- Data Retention: We retain your data for as long as your account is active.
5. Your Rights and Controls (Data Deletion)
You have full control over your data:
- Visibility Controls: Use the Privacy Center in the app to toggle which fields are visible to matches and family members.
- Data Export: You can request a data dump of your profile and questionnaire responses from the Privacy Center.
- Account Deletion: You can permanently delete your account at any time via the Privacy Center ("Delete Account"). This action immediately and permanently deletes your authentication record, your profile, your questionnaire answers, family associations, and match histories from our databases.
6. Children's Privacy
AlifBay Matrimony is strictly restricted to individuals 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from anyone under the age of 18.
